Looking for Really Cute Baby Shower Gift Ideas

A baby shower can be a relaxing time for families and friends to get together and celebrate the impending birth of a new baby. While at times the planning of a shower can be stressful, with careful planning and plenty of assistance, everything should turn out smoothly.

One fun aspect of a baby showers is the opening of the gifts. There are a number of gifts that can be given that are centered towards the mother more than the baby. This is perfectly natural and accepted because the mother will definitely need some pampering and some help when it comes to the big day. Your baby shower gifts can be reflective of the moment at hand or simply a practical item that will be in great need, such as diapers or bottles.

Personalized gifts for girls are societally geared in the color pink. This is not a requirement so much anymore as gender roles are being blurred. It is best to get the plans from the mother as to what colors she wants to have for the baby. These personalized gifts for girls can range from lighter colored stuffed animals and female cartoon character based designs. Other personalized gifts for girls can even come in the form of a hand made quilt with the baby's name on it.

Personalized gifts for boys are similar in that they are no longer limited to being just blue. It is not entirely gearing towards "masculine" occupations or sports either. This is also generally a choice of the mother (or father) so you should take into account the design of the nursery. Hand crafted items are going to be more appreciated compared to store bought items. Personalized gifts for boys are going to be quite similar in that you could make up a quilt with the boy's name stitched on it.

Gender neutral gifts are the exception since so many parents are choosing to know the gender of their baby before it is born. Color is not as big of an issue with a gender neutral gift. Greens, whites and browns tend to be good choices as they convey a sense of security to anyone who sees the baby's room to dote on your new baby after he or she is born.

Whatever you decide to gift to the family, whether its geared toward the mother or baby, as long as it's given with love, she'll appreciate your effort.

How to Choose the Right Toys For a Baby

Every new parent or person whose just buying baby gifts for a friend wants to get that perfect baby gift that the newborn child will really enjoy. When trying to choose the right toy for a baby many aspects need to be taken into consideration.

Theirs two main questions you must ask yourself before buying the product:
Does this look like something my child will enjoy?
Is this product safe?

The age and sex of the baby are two important things to take into consideration. If the baby is 18 months or younger it is best to stick to softer products. Great products for babies that are this young include noise makers, soft books, stacking blocks, and some push and pull objects that can help babies improve their fine motor skills.

Other products that can help the baby's fine motor skills improve are toys which let the baby interact. If the product can move or make noise the toy will be more beneficial to the baby's development. Baby's are usually more fond of these products.

Another consideration when buying a gift for a newborn is the color of the gift. Infants are known to enjoy a variety of bright colors.

Safety for the child is very important. Before buying any baby toys you should read online reviews about the products. You must keep in mind that babies can easily choke on some small items. A good rule of thumb is that if a toy is small enough to fit in an empty toilet role it is small enough to choke a baby.

Something that many people seem to overlook is the weight of the product you are buying. Obviously, babies cannot easily move around toys like adults can. You want the gift to be easy for the baby to play with. The last thing you want to do is put the child's safety at risk by purchasing a gift that is too heavy for them.

When choosing a toy we cannot forget about the parent in this equation. Parent's deal with many stressful situations with their newborns almost daily. The parent needs to be able to be able to deal with the toys their child has without getting annoyed. So if you are considering buying a piano toy or another noise making toy I'd highly recommend reviewing this product to see if it will end up driving the parent crazy.

Please considering all of these things prior to buying a gift. Make the right choices for the child from the start and remember product safety and the baby's enjoyment are critical.

How to Carry a Baby in a Baby Sling

A baby sling can be a wonderful accessory for any new parent, mom or dad, because it can make it easier to move around with a new baby or even a toddler. Baby slings are gaining in popularity but many people do not know how to properly use or carry a little one in a sling. There are many different types of carries and you can choose which ones work best for you and your little one. Many baby carriers only allow one or two positions, either on the front or back but with a baby sling the options are many.

Hip Carry
Many people usually carry a little one on their hip when a child gets older and can hold their head up pretty well. Carrying your child on the hip is exactly like what you will experience in the baby sling. The hip carry allows a little one to be close to you while still being able to view the world. This is a very popular carry and can be used with either a pouch sling or a ring sling. A baby sling is perfect for this position and allows more freedom. Traditional structured baby carriers do not allow this position.

Tummy to Tummy
A newborn baby is perfect for the tummy to tummy carry as it promotes a great deal of bonding when your child is still at that age of wanting to be close with you. This carry is perfect for newborn babies all the way up age one or so. Children that are older prefer to look outward to enable interaction with the world. This carry works amazing with ring slings because it is so easy to tighten the ring to accommodate a tiny baby or an older baby.

Breastfeeding Carry
Most moms want to breastfeed their children but feel that it is a burden in public because others might see or be offended. With a baby sling it is very easy to breastfeed discretely while still providing comfort to your child. The breastfeeding carry, also known as the cradle carry, is great because you can position your child in a place where they can still breastfeed. This position can be used with a pouch sling or more preferably the ring sling. A ring sling provides extra fabric that can be used to cover a nursing baby without disturbing the child. This carry is not provided with the traditional baby carrier.

Kangaroo Carry
This is the perfect carry for younger babies who are able to hold their head up but at the same time want to look out and see what mom sees. Carrying in this position works best when the baby is younger and still likes their legs to be curled up. Older children prefer more freedom to move and kick so this position usually does not work well with toddlers. Again this type of positioning works best with a baby ring sling because it is must more versatile and can be adjusted easily to get the baby snug.

Back Carry
Most kids love piggy back rides when they are young and this carry is similar to that. The back carry allows a parent to still move around and do things but while having the baby on the back instead of on the front. It is not a carry that should be used with smaller babies and is saved for toddlers who are a bit older. The back carry can easily be used with a pouch sling, baby ring sling, or a traditional structured carrier that is meant to be worn on the back.

As you can see a baby sling offers a great deal of diversity providing many positions which can be used by mom or dad, minus the breastfeeding part. Baby slings offer many benefits and as you can see the ring sling can be used for any position because it can be tightened or loosened depending on the carry. Many of the other slings do not offer this because they are one size and cannot be adjusted. Your baby will love being carried in a baby sling and the freedom of being hands free offers many benefits as well.
